Why switch to WebP?
WebP often delivers a smaller file than JPEG at a similar visible quality, helping pages load faster on mobile connections. It is supported by current major browsers and works well for product photography, article images and responsive website assets.
Choose quality for the destination
Start with Balanced for general web delivery and inspect fine edges at actual display size. High is useful for large product galleries. Small creates lighter previews but may soften texture and reveal artifacts around high-contrast details.
The conversion creates a new image from decoded pixels, so EXIF and GPS fields are not copied. It cannot restore detail already missing from the JPG. To keep JPEG compatibility while reducing size, use the JPEG compressor instead.
