How to convert an ODF file to images

PNG, JPG or WebP output
PNG is the safest choice for text, diagrams, formulas and transparent drawing backgrounds because it does not introduce lossy compression. JPG is widely compatible and can be smaller for pages dominated by photographs, but it always uses a solid background. WebP offers efficient lossy output and can retain transparency for modern web workflows.
Choosing DPI and maximum dimensions
DPI controls how many pixels are created from the physical page size. Use 96 DPI for thumbnails and quick previews, 144 or 192 DPI for readable on-screen documents, and 300 DPI for print-oriented output. A maximum-dimension limit is applied after rendering, using high-quality resampling while preserving the page proportions.
Rendering accuracy and known limitations
The conversion engine uses LibreOffice rather than attempting to approximate ODF XML in the browser. Standard text layout, tables, charts, spreadsheet pages, slides, vector drawings and formulas are therefore handled consistently. Documents can still differ from the original computer when they depend on a font that is not embedded or installed, external linked content, macros, animations, unsupported extensions or printer-specific settings.
Temporary server processing
Unlike the image tools that run locally in your browser, ODF conversion requires a temporary encrypted upload to the AIPics conversion service. Each request uses an isolated working directory. The source document, intermediate PDF and generated images are deleted automatically when the request completes or fails. Files are not added to a document library or used for model training. ODF conversion limits
- Maximum source size: 40 MB.
- Maximum output per conversion: 100 selected pages and 250 MB of generated images.
- The longest rendered side has a 12,000-pixel safety cap.
- Extremely large or four-minute conversions are stopped with guidance to reduce DPI, pages or maximum dimensions.
- Password-protected documents must be unlocked before upload.
- Macros are not executed during conversion.
- The first request after an idle period may take longer while the isolated converter starts.

Which OpenDocument formats can I convert?
The converter accepts ODT text documents, ODS spreadsheets, ODP presentations, ODG drawings and ODF formula files.
How accurately are ODF documents rendered?
Documents are rendered with LibreOffice, preserving standard page layout, tables, charts, slides, drawings and formulas. A missing source font may be replaced with a compatible installed font.
Are ODF files uploaded?
Yes. ODF conversion requires secure temporary server processing. The document and generated files are stored only for the active conversion and are deleted when it finishes.
How are ODS spreadsheets converted?
ODS files follow their saved print layout. Each resulting print page becomes an image, so print areas, page breaks and scaling in the source spreadsheet affect the output.
Can I convert a password-protected ODF file?
No. Remove the document password in the original office application before converting it.
Which DPI should I choose?
Use 96 DPI for compact previews, 144 or 192 DPI for readable screens, and 300 DPI when the image may be printed or closely inspected.
